John Stoddard Cancer Center provides many resources to help our patients know their risks and learn about their disease. We believe that knowledge and education are important weapons in the fight against cancer.

Our Stoddard Care Coordinators offer weekly patient education classes and along with our Oncology Outreach Coordinator, Kathy Hunnicutt, RN, BSN, OCN, they are responsible for assisting our patients and their families in the coordination of support services and facilitating several support groups offered through John Stoddard. Stoddard can also arrange for a speaker to be a part of your next event (speaking engagements, health fairs, conferences, etc). Fill out our online Speaker Request Form or call (515) 241-8505 for more information. Also available is our Family Resource Library and our CancerHelp™ computer software program. Located on Blank 1, the library contains cancer information (videos, audiotapes, CDs, books and brochures) aimed to help patients and their loved ones understand more about cancer. Our CancerHelp™ computer can be accessed at no charge on the John Stoddard Adult Oncology Inpatient Unit located on Powell 3. This program allows cancer patients and their families to access information about diagnosis, treatments, side effects, and other cancer-related topics.
