Jenny Cataldo :: Stoddard Care Coordinator
Jenny has been a care coordinator since February, 2012 and came to us with over 15 years of experience as a nurse on the Stoddard Adult Oncology Inpatient Unit. Jenny specializes in the care of colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer patients. She also facilitates the colon cancer multidisciplinary team conference, the Colorectal Cancer Support Group and the Stage IV Cancer Support Group.
"I am very honored to be a part of our Care Coordinator team," says Jenny. "I get the opportunity to be with the patients and their families through diagnosis, treatment, and beyond to offer support, education, and always a listening ear. I am grateful to be a part of their journey, and assist them in any way I can."
Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team
Jenny facilitates a multidisciplinary colorectal cancer conference twice a month with Dr. Robert Behrens, medical oncologist and Dr. Michael Page, colorectal surgeon. The purpose of this conference is to discuss the best treatment plan for Stoddard colorectal cancer patients. The multidisciplinary team includes physicians, social workers, nurses, a psychologist, and a dietician. The goal of this multidisciplinary team is to provide a higher standard of care for Stoddard patients.
Colon Cancer Genetic Testing
Genetic testing for hereditary colon cancer is also part of the coordinator role. If you are at increased risk for colon cancer due to a strong personal or family history of colon cancer, your physician may recommend genetic testing. If your test results are positive for a genetic mutation, an appropriate risk reduction plan is developed with the counselor and physician. This may include careful monitoring or periodic screening tests; changes in diet, exercise or other lifestyle factors; and/or surgical prevention options.
