Colorectal Cancer Treatment
When it comes to treatment options, the health care team at the John Stoddard Cancer Center will help you to make the right decision. Treatment for colorectal cancer might involve surgery and/or radiation therapy. It's important to talk with your doctor about the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Surgery is the most common treatment.
With radiation therapy, doctors use two types - external and internal. Sometimes, patients receive both.
The John Stoddard Cancer Center also offers what is called radiofrequency (RF) ablation. This minimally invasive procedure involves inserting a probe into the area affected by cancer. The probe includes tines resembling those of an umbrella. The tines open and attack the cancer.
